Eleven giraffes. With temperatures soaring well above 100 degrees F during the dry season, the animals in the deserts of Namibia have no choice but to congregate at the reliable puddles and pools filled with the little remaining unevaporated water. In this case there are eleven giraffes (one is playing Where’s Waldo – look closely), about a dozen helmeted guinea fowl, and two black-faced impalas sharing the watering hole. Off to the side out of the photograph is an additional menagerie of elephants, springboks, zebras, warthogs, and lions.
